Do I have to be able to Ski or Snowboard before I come to the Ski Village?

No, we are here to teach people to ski and snowboard so you will have to book on to one of our lessons and pass a certain level before we can allow you out on to the slopes alone. If you are a competent skier or boarder then you will be able to use the slopes recreationally.

What do I wear?

You must wear long sleeves, trousers and gloves at all times. Some people wear their ski gear depending on the weather.

Is there anywhere to eat?

Yes, bar snacks are available during the week. At weekends and during the holidays Cafe Marmot is open and provides a large selection of hot and cold food.

Do I need to book lessons?

Yes, we advise that you try and book a week in advance during our busy periods. It may be possible to book lessons in last minute but we cannot guarantee it.

Do I need to book to go on the slopes recreationally?

No, our slopes are open from 2pm every weekday and 10am at weekends and there is no need to book. You may wish to call and check that there are no large events going on as we occasionally have to close the slope.

Is there an extra charge for equipment?

No, the equipment hire is included in your lesson price.

Is there a bus route to the Ski Village?

The 53 bus stops at the bottom of the hill and there is a 5 minute walk to reach the Ski Village at the top of the hill.

What happens if it is raining?

The Ski Village runs as normal in the rain and it makes the slope easier to use, it just means that you will have to think about your choice of clothing. You can bring spare clothing as we do have changing rooms.

What happens if it is windy?

The slopes will still be open but it is possible that the T-bar lift will not run which means that the button lift will have to be used to reach the half way point on the slope. We advise that you call and check this information if there are high winds.

Do you do refresher lessons?

You can book on to a private lesson which means that the instructor can tailor the lesson to your ability. We also run all comers? sessions which are held on the nursery slope. They do not follow a strict lesson plan but the instructor will be able to give you tips and advice if you are struggling with anything.

What age can children learn to ski or snowboard?

We allow children to start skiing from age 3 and snowboarding from age 7 as it is more physically demanding. Please see the lesson plan and price list for further information.
