Sheffield Ski Village is the perfect place to learn to ski or snowboard.

We provide plenty of slope space, excellent instructors and good value for money. Plus we have a variety of packages to suit adults, children and large groups.

Our beginner lessons are divided into 4 × 90 minute sessions and are designed to develop your skills at a rate that suits you.

Equipment hire is included in the lesson price, so just dress for the weather and bring gloves.

Our basic lesson plans are listed below although lessons may vary slightly depending on the progress of the group.

Beginners Lessons

Ski level 1 – Nursery slope

Exercises on flat area
Straight running exercises
Control speed by ploughing

Ski level 2 – Nursery slope

Rope tow
Increase speed control
Linked turns

Ski level 3 – Nursery and Main slope

Increased speed control
Plough turning exercises
Transition from nursery slope to main slope
Introduction to lifts

Ski level 4 – Main Slope

Plough on steeper terrain
Exercises on steeper terrain
Ploughing on varied terrain
Introduction to T-Bar

Intermediate Lessons

Intermediate lessons provide high activity and small group sizes to ensure fast learning.

Ski level 5 – Main Slope

For skiers who have completed level 4 or those who can make plough turns on the main slope. Plough parallel, first steps beyond plough, using turn shape to control speed, reducing plough size.

Ski level 6 – Main slope

Plough parallel. Attempting to match skis between turns, using a stem to start turns.

Ski level 7 – Main slope

Basic parallel, using exercises to encourage turning both skis together and start basic parallel.

We also offer an ‘all comers’ session which takes place on the nursery slope and is perfect if you wish to practice your skills, gain confidence or just go over the basics.
